Possible Future Storyline:Daughters are the Future

| HVulpes | I have created a version of the threads on the anime addventure where the future daughters of Ranma come back into the past due to a poorly worded wish. Ranma wished he knew what to do about his fiancee situation, and this was the result. My version dealt with Naruto, who was wishing for some more family. Then daughters with most of the woman he had encounters with emerged from future. My idea was something like what I did with "The Wild" with a selection of heroes who have their future daughters come back from the future. Like Ranma and Naruto for the first two. Describing the idea of having daughters come back from the past, then explaining the heroes and their world, then what wishes could have caused it. I am curious about whether people would want to see this, since I am worried about creating too many new threads at once. Also I was looking for male heroes which this could happen to. Some thoughts are Joxer from Xena:Warrior Princess. His daughters with woman like Xena, Gabrielle, Calisto, Eve, Aphrodite, Eris, etc. Another is the idea of Aang from Avatar:The Last Airbender. Daughters of people like Katara and Toph seem to make sense, but there is also stranger matches which could occur. Mai might be out due to Zuko, but Ty Lee would be interesting. I had one thought of Azula falling in powerlust with the idea of the Avatar as the most powerful being on the planet. Then using a drug, commiting something close to a date rape with Aang and becoming pregnant. Then Aang and Katara would raise the daughter while Azula is locked up for good. A little darker, but the series has it deeper moments as well. Those are just from the top of my head. I figure I discuss this first before pluging in an episode. The fact I have an episode to follow with quite a lot of content should help things as well. So what do you guys thing? HV Last changed Mar 19 2008 15:10:36 by HVulpes |

Idea #1 is fine, a small episode to give choice of protaganist / victim is acceptable Idea #2, though, seems like telling. If you show us (in an identity neutral manner) the concept, no need to describe it.. I do understand how hard that is, though, when the series and hero has yet to be chosen. if you have to tell, do not belabour the point. Just throw it out there and trust your readers to get it. Idea #3, don't do it. I don't read episodes because they are encyclopedic articles on a series. I can understand wanting your readers to know who each are, but you forget one point. Fan Fiction is exactly that, by fans for fans. As such, those reading a particular story know about it already. They can not be a fan if they never seen it before. If I don't know who someone is, you can trust that I won't click on his link. If I clicked a link on someone I don't know, just to see, any confusion is my own fault and I walk into that condition willingly. Explaining the heros and their worlds will take the reader out of the story, something a writer should strive to avoid. Idea #4, same thing. We don't need a one-sided discussion on what each guy may have wished and why. In fact, you can do away with this and clean up idea #2 by starting with the wish made. A faceless / descriptionless man, or woman (Who says a girl couldn't have had kids with different guys), makes a wish. Then the wish understood wrong part is also common. This leads the reader into the choices of who gets to see there wish go awry. In this manner, you show us how it is that daughters come back, you've established the wish (which could be roughly the same for all if you word it right), and not once did you have to lecture to the reader. Try to make the first episode as much showing as you can, given its role as a selector for hero and series. Don't worry about explaining stuff, that's what Author's Notes are good for. Other than that, I am sure people will want to read it. It is up to you to decide if you have the time and energy to devote to it. Also, as it is basically a copy of someone else's idea, those get tiresome after a bit. If you have original ideas to pursue, give those priority first. If you have the time and inclination, do this. Remember, the first guy who said 'Your lips are red like a rose' was a genius. The second, a fool. Meaning, it is always better to do your own thing then copy someone elses. Even though you are giving this your own spin, you might find in the long run, people are not so interested in something they read before. As such, I would go with 6 all new hero choices. If someone wanted to read or write for Ranma or Naruto, the original two are still on the AA. And there is plenty of room letf for someone to do there own thing (meaning that they do not need a blank slate here. They can probably do what they want there easy enough.) This way, even though the concept is old, the guy involved is new. People will prefer that over yet another Ranma thread borrowed from the AA. Last changed Mar 09 2009 22:43:27 by |
